VIOLIN TEACHING

Vanessa is passionate about inspiring the next generation of musicians and keen violin enthusiasts and has a wealth of experience teaching beginners to advanced level students of all ages.

During the 2020-21 academic year, Vanessa held the position of graduate music assistant at Rugby School which gave her the opportunity to teach the violin, coach ensembles, supervise music scholars with their practice as well as experience many aspects of running a busy music department. Vanessa was fortunate enough to be re-employed by the school in September 2021 as a peripatetic violin teacher where she is able to continue teaching students ranging from 13-18 years.

In April 2023, Vanessa was delighted to join the music department at Bilton Grange Preparatory School as a peripatetic violin teaching where she has been able to continue teaching junior students from 6-12 years. Vanessa also teaches a number of adult learners privately.

In September 2024, Vanessa joined the music department at St Benedict's School, Ealing. Vanessa also taught for a year at Dartford Grammar School for Boys.

Vanessa is passionate about helping children who struggle with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and encouraging them to find coping strategies to learn music. Particularly with sight-reading which is a common problem that can cause many children to give up playing. Vanessa understands the struggles they face as she went through dyslexia whilst at school.

TEACHING REVIEWS
'Vanessa is a very experienced violin teacher. Since I started lessons with her, she was attentive and good at assessing my abilities and adjusting the lesson according to my development. She is always ready to give extra exercises from a variety of resources, in case I have problems understanding a concept or technique. I find her lessons very fun and challenging, and she is full of knowledge. I went recently to one of her recitals, and I was absolutely amazed at how beautiful she was playing. If you found her lessons online, you are in the right place to book an excellent violin teacher. I am highly recommending her!'

I started sessions with Miss White halfway through my final year at Rugby, and I wish that I found her sooner. It’s more than fair to say that Miss White completely saved my grade 8, helping not only with technique and performance but also with my confidence and passion. It was the first time in a long time when I actually looked forward to violin lessons.

'I took up the violin after over 40 years away so my playing was, to say the least, rusty. Vanessa has patiently re-taught me some of the basic techniques that I had forgotten and has shown me how to rediscover my musicality. She has also helped me to play with greater confidence and panache. Vanessa is an extremely supportive teacher and, as a bonus, has opened up opportunities for me to play with others. On a practical note, she is extremely flexible offering the options of face-to-face lessons (in East London) or online via Skype and makes every effort to fit in with busy schedules.
I am delighted that I found Vanessa and can't imagine how anyone could be a better teacher!'

'Vanessa is an amazing teacher that has really helped to improve my violin skills over the year that I’ve been taught. All of the aspects of my playing have improved massively and I’ve even learnt vibrato! Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting to improve their violin skills.'
